MBBS Admission 2025-26: In a decisive move to uphold the integrity of the upcoming medical entrance examinations, the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has enforced a blanket ban on all medical coaching operations across Bangladesh.
MBBS Admission 2025-26: Coaching Ban Enforced & 500+ Seats Slashed
Confirmed by Professor Rubina Yasmin, Additional Director General (Medical Education), on Monday (December 8, 2025), the directive mandates that all coaching centersâoperating both online and offlineâmust remain closed until the conclusion of the admission test on December 12.
This strict regulatory clampdown coincides with a significant restructuring of medical education capacity, as authorities announce a sharp reduction in available seats for the 2025-2026 academic session, drastically increasing the competition ratio for aspirants.
Zero Tolerance: The Coaching Ban Protocol
The Admission Committeeâs decision aims to mitigate the risk of question paper leaks and curb the spread of rumors that typically plague the final days before the high-stakes exam.
According to the DGME directive:
- Duration: The ban is effective immediately and runs through December 12.
- Scope: It covers physical coaching centers and digital learning platforms specifically targeting the medical admission cycle.
- Enforcement: Law enforcement agencies have been tasked with monitoring compliance to ensure a level playing field for all candidates sitting for the simultaneous nationwide exam this Friday.
The “Seat Cut” Shock: A Strategic Recalibration
While the coaching ban was anticipated, the major shock for guardians and students comes from the revised seat matrix. The DGME has implemented a rigorous quality control audit, resulting in a net reduction of seats in both government and private sectors.
The authorities argue that this “right-sizing” is necessary to maintain the teacher-student ratio and hospital bed occupancy standards required for quality medical training.
Government Sector Analysis
The public sector has seen a net loss of 280 seats.
- Previous Capacity: 5,380 seats across 37 colleges.
- The Cut: 14 Medical Colleges lost a combined 355 seats.
- The Gain: 3 Medical Colleges were allowed to increase capacity by 75 seats.
- New Total: 5,100 Seats.
Private Sector Analysis
The private sector faced even stricter scrutiny.
- The Cut: A reduction of 292 seats across 66 private medical colleges.
- New Total: Approximately 6,001 Seats.
Impact on Aspirants
This reduction of over 570 seats (combined) fundamentally alters the competitive landscape. With the total capacity in government colleges dropping to 5,100, the “Golden Ticket” of a subsidized medical education has become statistically harder to obtain.
Summary of Seat Adjustments:
| Sector | Previous Seats | Net Change | New Total (2025-26) |
| Government | 5,380 | – 280 | 5,100 |
| Private | 6,293 (Approx) | – 292 | 6,001 |
| Total Impact | 11,673 | – 572 | 11,101 |
With coaching centers closed, students are now forced to rely on self-study for the final 96 hours. The exam, scheduled to be held simultaneously across the country on December 12, will now be a test of not just knowledge, but psychological resilience.
